Doctors to go on mass casual leave today
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 23
Threatening to intensify their agitation against proposed reservations in elite government institutes, the AIIMS Resident Doctors Association and medical students today observed a black day here on the second day of their renewed protest.

The doctors were seen attending to patients wearing black armbands. The doctors have decided to go on a mass casual leave tomorrow, but essential services, including the emergency, will function normally.

“The government has to realise that it has to be answerable. The future of millions of persons cannot be decided in such a hurry. We will keep protesting against the move,” association president and Youth For Equality leader Binod Patra said.

The decision to observe black day was taken at last night’s general body meeting of the Youth for Equality, which is spearheading the anti-quota agitation.

However, services in the OPD might be affected as it will only be run by the senior doctors in absence of the residents.
