Industry sees mischief
7-hour power supply to induction furnaces

The Punjab State Electricity Board’s (PSEB) action of supplying electricity to induction arc furnaces for seven hours yesterday failed to find favour with the industry which termed the action as a “mischief”, stating that the board did not inform them well in advance about the same.

Creative craft contest
Ludhiana, August 23
The International Creative Craft Contest 2006 (ICCC), an initiative by Pidilite Industries conceptualised with the aim of recognising and rewarding excellence in arts and crafts, began at BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar, here today with fanfare and enthusiasm. More than 5,000 schools are participating in the ICCC across India.

LIC badminton tourney
Ludhiana, August 23
A two-day divisional-level badminton tournament of the Life Insurance Corporation of India was organised here at Shastri Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium here. Employees from eight local branches besides those from Samrala, Jagraon and Mansa divisions competed in the tournament which was conducted under the supervision of Mr Giainder Singh Sandhu, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana.
