Condition
critical; younger brother surrenders
Mumbai, April 22
Bharatiya Janata Party
General Secretary Pramod Mahajan (56) is on life support at
Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital after he was shot at point blank
by his brother early this morning. The incident happened at
around 7.30 this morning at Mahajan's 14th floor apartment
in the posh Purna Housing Society at Worli in Central
Mumbai.

Jessica’s
father dead
New Delhi,
April 22
A month after he
suffered a brain haemorrhage, Ajit Kumar Lall, father of
slain model Jessica Lall died of a brain stroke last night.
Family sources said the end came late last night. Ajit Lall
(76) had been undergoing treatment at Unkal Hospital in
neighbouring Gurgaon (Haryana) since March 21 last when he
suffered brain haemorrhage.

Centre
extends truce
New Delhi, April 22
The Centre has extended
by another year from April 29 ceasefire between security
forces and NSCN (Khaplang), an insurgent group operating in
Nagaland. The decision to extend the ceasefire was taken at
a meeting here yesterday between senior officials of the
Union Home Ministry and a three-member NSCN (Khaplang) team
led by one of its leaders K.Mulatanu, official sources said
today.
