Ban on firecrackers: The district police has imposed a ban on the bursting of firecrackers between 10 pm and 6 am in the city. According to the SSP Ishwar Singh, the firecrackers have added to the noise and air pollution in the city. The SSP said that strict action, as per the law, would be taken against those flouting the ban.

Lecture: An extension lecture on “Communication through Radio” was delivered by Dr Namrata Joshi, senior lecturer, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jalandhar. A press note issued here today said the lecture was organised at the local Kamla Nehru College for Women by the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the college. College Principal, Ms Kusum Verma, and Department Head, Ms Ekta Arora, along with other faculty members, were also present on the occasion.
