Eight of marriage party killed in mishap

Jammu, February 7
Eight members of a marriage party were killed as the vehicle carrying them to the bride’s house rolled into a nullah last night near Billawar in Kathua district.

According to the police, five persons died on the spot, while three succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Among the dead were three women.

Reports said 10 of the 24 injured persons had been admitted to a hospital.

The marriage party was proceeding from Morda Bani to Ramkot.

Six of the killed were identified as Rewa Devi, Shankari Devi and Geeta Devi all residents of Ambla, Kusheliya Devi of Janipur in Jammu and Giano Devi and Vimla Devi of Kori. While the identity of a teenager girl was yet to be ascertained.
