INLD protests just a ploy: Surjewala
Fatehabad, January 6 The INLD had been holding demonstration and burning effigies of Mr Surjewala over his alleged role in the oil scam. Talking to mediapersons in the PWD Rest House here, Mr Surjewala said the CBI probe into the wealth amassed by the former Chief Minister and his family members during the INLD regime had already begun. The minister alleged that it was out of frustration that the former Chief Minister had directed his party men to launch an agitation for his ouster. The minister categorically stated that he was in no way involved in the scam. He said INLD workers had been brandishing a copy of a letter purportedly given by him to Mr Jagat Singh but no one had ever shown the original letter. He said even if the contents of the letter were to be believed, the letter nowhere authorises Mr Jagat Singh to enter into any deal as stated in the Volker’s report. Replying to a question on the possibility of revision of bus fares in the state, the minister said the issue was under consideration of the government and added that the government would take a decision in the best interest of the poor. He said the government had already allowed free travel to handicapped, thalassaemia patients and one of their attendants and it had also decreased the monthly pass fee of girl students. |
