Normal life in the city was thrown out of gear today morning following a major power failure during the early hours here today. The failure of the Northern Grid led to a blackout in the city at about 7.15 a.m.

Flights cancelled, trains delayed
Chandigarh, December 23
All three flights to and from Delhi to the city were cancelled for the second day today due to bad weather in Delhi. Officials at the Chandigarh Airport said the flights of Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Deccan were cancelled as they didn’t take off from Delhi due to bad weather.

‘Illegal’ road escalates land prices

The “illegal” road constructed by some private colonisers from Sector 20 to the three villages of Peer Mashala, Gazipur and Kishanpur has led to spiralling real estate prices in the three villages. These villages have now formally been included in the Zirakpur Notified Area Committee.

Bomb scare in Madrassi Colony
Chandigarh, December 23
Panic and chaos prevailed in the Sector 26 Madrassi Colony early this morning after a colony resident mistook an unclaimbed electronic component for a bomb near public toilets. The police cordoned off the area and called the bomb disposal squad.
