Indo-US N-deal reciprocal: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said today that the Indo-US nuclear deal was proceeding on the basis of “strict reciprocity” and India was at liberty not to meet its commitments if the US Administration did not fulfil its obligations.

Karvan-e-Aman with 26 passengers
crosses LoC
Srinagar, December 15
Twenty-six passengers aboard the Karavan-e-Aman or peace bus between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad crossed Kamaan Bridge today, first time after the October 8 earthquake. There were no passengers on board the peace bus on its last run from here to the Kamaan bridge two weeks ago.

The Enforcement Directorate today questioned for seven hours Jagat Singh, the son of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, in connection with the Iraq oil-for-food scam. Jagat Singh, who had ducked three earlier summons, finally appeared before the investigating agency this morning.

Punjab issues notification on 85th Amendment
Chandigarh, December 15
The Punjab Government today issued a notification to enforce the 85th Amendment to the Constitution. The notification said that the new rules to benefit the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes would be enforced from November 17, 2005.

The fifth Caliph of Ahmadiyyas, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who was born on September 15, 1950, in Rabwah, Pakistan, which is the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s headquarters, said here today that he was banned to enter into his own country due to a stringent Act enacted by the Pakistan Government.
