Police remand for BKI activists

Mrs Jitender Walia, Sub- Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Jagraon, today remanded Gurpreet Singh, Chamkaur Singh and Bhagwant Singh to police custody till November 25. They were arrested by the local police with RDX, cartridges, detonator, timer etc yesterday.

Controversy over golden ‘palki’ for Nankana Sahib

The offering of golden 'palki' at Nankana Sahib and it being carried in a nagar kirtan procession from Delhi to Nankana Sahib has been mired in an unsavory controversy. The proposal to offer the 'palki' is the brainchild of Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna, president, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee which was opposed by Bibi Jagir Kaur, president of the SGPC.

Sargun wins healthy baby contest

One- year-old Sargun, daughter of Ms Upasana and Manjinder Singh, won the first prize in a healthy baby contest organised by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics held at Lions Club, Ludhiana. As many as 500 babies had taken part in the contest.

Veteran journalist and newspaper agent Faqir Chand Puri (83), father of Mr Ravinder Puri, president journalists’ association, and Mr Narinder Puri, advocate, breathed his last today.

Robbers decamp with valuables

In the second major robbery in Focal Point within four days, armed robbers looted raw material, industrial products, cash and valuables from a factory in the Focal Point just after midnight last. The robbers looted at will after beating up the factory watchman and locking him in a room.

Man found murdered
Jagraon, November 21
Ranjit Singh (40) of Sohian village was found murdered in his house in mysterious circumstances. The police has registered a case under Section 302, IPC on the statement of his brother, Baljit Singh.
