Probe ordered into Salman’s mob links
Tribune News Service

Mumbai, July 20
The Maharashtra Government today ordered an inquiry into actor Salman Khan’s links with the underworld.

Accordingly, the Mumbai police’s Criminal Investigation Department will look into Khan’s alleged claims that he was linked with the underworld and was aware of the serial bomb blasts that rocked Mumbai in March 1993.

The transcripts of Salman Khan’s tapes were published in a city newspaper last week and created an uproar in the state legislature.

The Mumbai Police, which recorded voice samples of Khan and Rai, has sent these to the forensic laboratory at Chandigarh for testing. The recorded samples will be used to verify the authenticity of the tapes where Khan is said to have flaunted his mob links.

The police had obtained the voice samples of the two a few days ago after newspapers and television channels carried transcripts and broadcast the tapes.

Meanwhile, the police has recorded the statements of senior police officers, including ‘encounter specialists’ Pradeep Sharma, Daya Nayak and other officers who keep track of the underworld.
