Thundershowers in Himachal

New Delhi, May 18
Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh, at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhang, Dhundhi and Solang Nala 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures fell in west Rajasthan and changed a little elsewhere. Departure: This was above normal in Haryana, Punjab, east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 45.3°C recorded at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 20: Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Punjab. Isolated duststorm or thunderstorm is likely in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Isolated thunder squalls are likely in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 20: Partly cloudy sky with dust haze. Duststorm or thunderstorm accompanied with squall is likely in some areas. The maximum temperature will be around 42°C.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi forecast valid until the morning of May 20: Duststorm or thunderstorm is likely at a few places. Squall with wind speed exceeding 65 kmph is likely at isolated places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Snow, rain in Himachal areas

Shimla, May 18
The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received fresh snow today, bringing down the temperature. Some lower areas were lashed by high-velocity winds and rain.

The Kangra valley was lashed by heavy showers and the Dhauladhar ranges overlooking the valley experienced fresh snow. The valley was lashed by rain and thunderstorm last night also. There have been reports of fresh snow from the Rohtang pass also.

According to the weather office, snow and rain may hit some areas of the state in the next 24 hours. — UNI
