New Delhi, May 18
Taking cognizance of a CBI chargesheet in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) land scam case, a city court today issued summons to former Delhi High Court Judge, Shameet Mukherjee who was forced to resign two years ago in the wake of alleged judicial misconduct while dealing with a case involving property of a hotelier.

Special CBI Judge H P Sharma issued summons to Mukherjee, who is made an accused in the land scam for allegedly attempting to provide favours to the hotelier in the form of judicial pronouncement.

He was directed to present himself before the court on July 8, along with other co-accused, including sacked DDA Vice-President Subhash Sharma and hotelier Vinod Khatri. The CBI had filed a chargesheet against them on April 5.

The other key accused in the case are Dharambir Khattar, allegedly worked as conduit between Mukherjee and Sharma’s then personal secretary Ashok Kapoor.

The CBI has chargesheeted them under various provisions of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
