Adopting a positive and forward looking-approach, India and Pakistan today decided to enlarge economic and commercial ties aimed at making South Asia a dynamic pole in Asia and the world without undermining the difficulties in dealing with the Kashmir problem as well as other ticklish bilateral issues.

RSS, BJP ties under strain
New Delhi, April 17
The ties between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party are at the crossroads as the umbilical cord between the two is under strain threatening to be severed. Sources said the RSS at its three-day annual meeting in Mangalore in March this year served an ultimatum to its political outfit that it would no more send its ‘pracharaks’ to the BJP.

Petrol stations to remain shut today
New Delhi, April 17
Petrol stations throughout the country will remain shut tomorrow to press for the demand to increase dealers’ commission, the Federation of All-India Petroleum Traders said tonight.

No non-academic duties for teachers, assures Johar
Chandigarh, April 17
The Punjab Government has decided that schoolteachers should not be put on non-academic duties during schooltime. It also decided to continue the PTA funds in the schools. Mr Harnam Dass Johar, School Education Minister, said since there was a shortage of teachers, deputing them for duties in the field by various departments caused a loss to studies

Pakistan put India on mat to wrap up ODI series 4-2

Pakistan inflicted a crushing 159-run defeat on India in the sixth and final One-Day International match at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground here today to wrap up the series4-2.
