PMO’s letter to CBI leads to furore in Parliament
New Delhi, December 23
Members of the treasury and opposition benches created a furore in both Houses of Parliament today over an alleged attempt by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to reopen a case against former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani and over Tehelka expose against an alleged pay off to the Best Bakery witness.

Narasimha Rao passes away
Both Houses adjourned sine die; seven-day mourning
New Delhi, December 23
Former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, the first leader from outside the Nehru-Gandhi family to head a government at the Centre for a full term, passed away today after a bout of serious illness.

A pall of gloom descended on this sleepy village, the place where former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao spent his childhood.

Mr P.V. Narasimha Rao is, among his other accomplishments, a linguist proficient in about six languages and a litterateur with poetry, fiction and other writings in Telugu, Marathi, Hindi and English to his credit.
