All 5 accused in post-Godhra Derol massacre arrested

Vadodara, June 28
The police today claimed to have arrested all the five accused in the post-Godhra Derol massacre in which a mob killed 10 members of a family.

In their first catch in this two-and-a-half-year-old case that was reopened recently following a Supreme Court order, four accused were arrested from Derol village on Saturday, while the fifth one was nabbed yesterday, sources with the Panchamahals district police said.

The accused — Bipin Kumar Parmar, Dinesh Patel, Ambu Vankar, Anil Parmar and Rajesh Patel — were produced before a local court yesterday and remanded in judicial custody.

On March 1, 2002, 10 persons, including six women, of a family of Limkheda in Panchamahals district, were allegedly killed and burnt by a mob at Deol village. The victims were killed when they were fleeing to Pandu town apprehending danger to their lives in Limkheda following the Godhra carnage. — UNI
