Pistol in parcel sent to Kalam

Officials in Rashtrapati Bhavan went into a tizzy this morning after a parcel which was addressed to President APJ Abdul Kalam was found containing a pistol, a cartridge and suspected explosive. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rashtrapati Bhawan) SBS Tyagi said the packet, apparently sent from Patna, was brought by the Presidential House postman at around 9.30 am and it was scanned through an X-ray machine, it showed a pistol, a cartridge and some explosive, added Mr Tyagi.

The parcel carried the sender’s name and address as ‘Mahesh Sav, Village Mujahidpur, PO Box Pirsawa, Patna’, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said.

PATNA: Mahesh Sav, the man who sent the country’s security establishment into a tizzy by sending a parcel containing a pistol, cartridges and suspected explosives to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was arrested today within seven hours of the delivery of the consignment. — PTI
