New Delhi, April 24
Campaigning for 137 Lok Sabha constituencies in 11 states going to the polls on Monday, including those of Congress President Sonia Gandhi (Rae Bareli), Rahul Gandhi (Amethi), Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi (Mumbai, North Central) and NDA convener George Fernandes (Muzaffarpur) ended this evening, 48 hours before the second phase of parliamentary elections.

CBI report on telecast scam rejected
New Delhi, April 24
A special court here has rejected the CBI report for the closure of the probe in three corruption cases pertaining to the purchase of multi-crore World Cup cricket and Wimbledon and French Open tennis telecast rights by Prasar Bharati in 1999 and 1997, respectively, in which huge losses were allegedly caused to the public broadcaster.

Expenditure limit for Chandigarh candidates raised by Rs 6 lakh

The Election Commission has revised the ceiling on election expenses for parliamentary seats with candidates contesting from Chandigarh and the National Capital Territory of Delhi benefiting the most.

The Delhi police today arrested one more person in connection with the April 10 CBSE pre-medical test question paper leak. The man, whose identity was not disclosed, is accused of purchasing the question papers from CBSE employee Hemant Sharma. — PTI


13 hurt as BKU, Cong workers clash at rally

Eight activists of the BKU (Ekta), three Congressmen and two policemen were injured when the BKU (Ekta) activists allegedly attacked the Congress workers while Mr Arvind Khanna, party nominee from the Sangrur parliamentary constituency, was addressing an election rally at Minia village in Moga district today.
