Abohar
FOUR ARRESTED: Kashmir Singh of Burjmuhar, Surender Kumar of Fazilka and Devi Lal of Churu were arrested by the police along with a married woman of Laluwal Makhu village under Section of 109 of the IPC from near the subdivisional complex here on Sunday night. They were produced in a court which remanded them in judicial custody on Monday. The woman is a member of a dancing troupe.

HONOURED: Mr Sohan Lal Setia, president, Mr Sushil Mehta, vice-president, Mr Prem Parkash Arya, general secretary, respectively of the Arya Samaj, Mr Nirmaljit Nimma and Mr Ravi Sethi, social activists were honoured at the foundation day function of the Arya Samaj at LRS DAV Senior Secondary Model School here on Monday.

INAUGURATED: Mr Ravi Sethi and Mr Naresh Khurana, social workers, inaugurated a gymnasium at DAV School here on Monday.

DENTAL CAMP: A dental camp was held here on Monday in the Dr Kalyan Singh dental clinic. People were imparted awareness on dental health. Prof Darbari Lal, Punjab Minister for Education inaugurated the camp.

FOLKLORE CONGRESS: Two-day 23rd Indian Folklore Congress will start from Wednesday on the campus of Guru Nanak Dev University. The university and the Central Institute of Indian Language, Mysore are organising the Congress.

Hoshiarpur
CAMPAIGN: Mr Avinash Rai Khanna, President, State Unit of the BJP, Punjab, started election campaign here on Monday. BJP workers led by Mr Tikshan Sud, MLA, Mr Bhagwant Kishore, District President, Mr Vijay Sud, City President, Mr Sanjiv Talwar, district president, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Mr Satpal Sareen, ex-President, Municipal Council, Mr Hans Raj welcomed Mr Khanna on his reaching the party office.

BSP TICKET: Following instructions of Ms Mayawati, President of the Bahujan Samaj Party, party ticket to two more candidates viz Mr Sant Ram Malia, and Mr Ravail Singh was given from Faridkot and Tarn Taran constituency, respectively, for Lok Sabha elections, Mr Narinder Kashyap, National General Secretary of the BSP said on Monday.

BOY CRUSHED TO DEATH: Sonu, a teenaged boy working on a dhaba, was crushed to death when a truck overturned near Kharakheri village in this district on Monday. Sonu was going to serve tea to customers, when he was crushed under the vehicle. He died on the spot. The police has registered a case.

Kaithal
MELA CONCLUDES: Devotees from Panjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pardesh visited Mata Ka Mandir at Mata Gate here. The three-day mela concluded on Monday. Of Bazigars visit this temple every year on the eve of Navratras. Newborns and married couples seek blessings of the deity.

Yamunanagar
ACCIDENT: Daljit Singh (35) of Marwa Khurd, 10 km from here hit by a truck (HR01A-5785) on the Jagadhri-Bilaspur road and died when he was returning on his motor cycle after attending a wedding at Yamunanagar. The Chhappar police station has registered a case under Sections 304, 279 of the IPC.
