Chandigarh, March 20
After two days of action-packed acts at Chandimandir, Amitabh Bachchan did some dance sequences for the film, “Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo” today. Taking up the new role with admirable ease this morning, he went about practicing his steps all day, not losing patience despite the tedious schedule.

Taking over from film director Anil Sharma, choreographer Ganesh Acharya made Amitabh and Sandali Sinha practice for hours before taking the final shot at Forest Hill Resort. The sequence — a Punjabi dance number — took about six hours to be shot. Although rumours were rife that Bobby Deol and Nagma would join the cast for picturization of the song today, they did not turn up. And with the focus entirely on Amitabh, no one was even missing them.

The fans were busy watching the superstar, who kept a safe distance from the crowd, lest shooting schedules went haywire. After giving a shot in the morning, Amitabh withdrew into his all-purpose van, which was mobbed by fans. Amitabh then instructed his secretary to bring the autograph diaries inside the van. Many thus lined up to hand over the diaries. They were asked to collect them later after Amitabh had done the honour!

The relentless admirers were however not happy even with autographs. They kept standing outside his van, despite being warned by security personnel on duty. Their wait ended after two hours, when Amitabh, dressed as a Sikh, came out, rushing for cover. The fans then followed him to the lawns of the Resort where Ganesh Acharya, along with his group of 40 dancers, was ready to shoot.

Immediately after arriving on the sets, Amitabh began matching his steps with those of the dancers. He was heard saying that he wanted to complete the sequence today. He laboured hard to please Ganesh, who took 14 retakes of several portions of the song. Sandali was also around.

Continuously hounded by admirers, Amitabh even had to request the security to be tightened. He, however, could not stop the persistent fans from following him to the sets and then to his special seat, created by placing three chairs one over the other. Amitabh always sits on three chairs, to have his leg space!
