Protest rally by MC employees

The Sangharsh Committee of Municipal Corporation employees organised a protest rally at the MC headquarters here today to press for the acceptance of their long-standing demands. It served a 14-day ultimatum on the authorities.

Four hawala operators held
Ludhiana, March 10
Just days after the Division No. 6 police arrested six alleged hawala operators, the CIA and the Basti Jodhewal police claim to have arrested four such operators at a naka laid at the Jalandhar bypass late last night. The police has recovered Rs 12 lakh from their possession. Some of the notes were found to be counterfeit.

Inspector held in corruption case
Khanna, March 10
Inspector H.S. Riar, in charge of the Khanna Anti-Fraud Wing, was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau here today in connection with a case registered against him two years ago on the charges of corruption and possession of disproportionate assets.

Artefacts by students put on display

The Home Science Department of Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, organised an art and crafts exhibition on the college campus here today. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Mrs Harmil Kaur. About 75 students had displayed their artefacts.

‘Antakshri’ to be shot at Lodhi Club

The Zee Sansui Antakshri unit is set to record next 12 episodes at the Lodhi club here. The episodes would be telecast on Zee Television for three months starting from the first week of April.

Northern Railways beat NE Railways by seven goals

The Northern Railways, defending champions, overwhelmed the North-Eastern Railways, 7-0, to begin their title hunt on a rousing note on the third day of the eighth All-India Mohinder Partap Singh Grewal Memorial Women’s Hockey Tournament being played at the Deso Turf ground of Punjab Agricultural University here today.
