The fate of over 5,000 candidates who contested in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi on December 1 will be decided tomorrow when the counting of votes will be taken up.
Elaborate security and administrative arrangements have been made by the Election Commission to ensure the counting process is completed smoothly.
The counting will begin at 8 am and early trends are likely to be available within two or three hours, Election Commission sources said.
All results for the 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 200 in Rajasthan, 90 in Chhattisgarh and 70 in Delhi are expected to be announced by the evening as the polling was conducted using electronic voting machines (EVMs).
Among those whose fortune would be decided are the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Ms Sheila Dikshit, Mr Ashok Gehlot, Mr Digvijay Singh and Mr Ajit Jogi, respectively.
Among the BJP leaders whose fate would be known are the party’s chief-ministerial candidates in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, Ms Vasundhara Raje, Ms Uma Bharati and Mr Madan Lal Khurana, respectively.
