Steep hike in prices of petrol, diesel

In one of the steepest hike in one go, national oil companies today increased petrol and diesel prices by up to Rs 2.28 and Rs 1.49 per litre, respectively, saying that it was in line with the global market.
Pak to release 16 Sikh youths on Sept 6

In a goodwill gesture aimed at improving the bilateral relations between the neighbours, Pakistan will release tomorrow 269 Indian fishermen, arrested for illegal entry into its territory, while 16 Sikh youths would be released on September 6.
India to take up case of its national on death row in Pak
Bhikhiwind (Amritsar), August 31
The Government of India has decided to take up the case of Sarbjit Singh, a resident of this border town who has been awarded death sentence by the supreme court of Pakistan for a crime which he did not commit.
