FATEHABAD POLL Fatehabad, April 28 Addressing party workers outside the mini-secretariat, former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhajan Lal said senior leaders of the state Congress had given him a free hand in the selection of party nominee, as it was his home constituency. Mr Bhajan Lal ridiculed the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Parkash Chautala, by saying that the Chief Minister had been seeking votes as remuneration for the labour done by him during the past more than three years. He wondered what Mr Chautala’s right to remuneration was “when he had done nothing for the people of the state”. Earlier, addressing mediapersons here last evening, Mr Kuldip Bishnoi, a former MLA, said that a status similar to Panchkula and Adampur would be accorded to the Fatehabad constituency. The HVP nominee, Mr Prahlad Singh Gillankhera, will file his nomination papers tomorrow. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal will be present on the occasion. The HVP chif will also address a rally outside the mini-secretariat on the occasion, according to party sources. Meanwhile, in another development the CPM today reacted sharply to state Congress chief Bhajan Lal and Congress nominee Dura Ram’s claim that the Congress was in touch with the CPM for its support in the Fatehabad assembly byelection. He said the Congress leader had met the CPM general secretary, Mr Harkishan Singh Surjit, in this regard in Delhi but Mr Surjit had told him in no uncertain terms that their party did not take such decisions at the highest level.
