I will not destroy missiles: Saddam
Washington, February 25
Saddam HusseinIraqi President Saddam Hussein said in an interview yesterday that he had no plan to comply with a UN demand that he should destroy his banned Al-Samoud 2 missiles.
Mr Hussein flatly denied that even his most advanced Al-Samoud missiles violated UN restrictions, indicating that he did not intend to destroy them.

HP goes to polls today
A day of reckoning for 391 candidates
Shimla, February 25
Assembly electionsAs many as 39,82,811 voters will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 391 candidates for 65 Assembly constituencies scheduled to go to the polls on February 26.
There are 68 seats in the Assembly. However, the polling for three snow-bound tribal seats of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Bharmour will be held on June 8.

Even as the government today gave an assurance that it will not interfere in the Babri Masjid demolition case, there were strong protests from the Opposition in both Houses of Parliament, seeking the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani and his Cabinet colleague Murli Manohar Joshi.

L K Advani Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today put the ball in the Congress court on the sensitive Ramjanmabhoomi temple issue saying that the government was ready to find a solution to the Ayodhya tangle through an Act of Parliament, if the main Opposition party agreed to it.

4 massacred in Jammu

Terrorists of the Hizbul Majaheedin killed four persons at Rah Siot village in the Sunderbani area of Rajauri district last night.

Responding to growing consumer anxiety and concern over the safety of packaged drinking water, the government has decided to enforce stringent BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) norms for the manufacture and sale of bottled water by quantifying the maximum limit for pesticide residues.
