Bangladesh pushes back migrants
Envoy summoned as tension mounts on border
Kolkata, February 3
As talks failed to determine their nationalities, 213 migrants stranded in no man’s land tried to flee into Bangladesh today, only to be pushed back towards India. For five days, the hapless group has stayed put near border pillar number 867/8, some 650-km north of here, sandwiched between gun-toting border guards of the two countries.

AICC releases list of Dhumal family’s properties

With active support and inputs provided by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, the All-India Congress Committee today released a list of properties alleged to be owned by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, his immediate family members and close relations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.

US army chief meets Fernandes
New Delhi, February 3
The US army chief, Gen Eric K. Shinseki, today held wide-ranging talks with Defence Minister George Fernandes and the service chiefs on the prevailing situation on the International Border and Line of Control and issues relating to infiltration from the Pakistani side.

Use toy planes, ISI tells LeT
New Delhi, February 3
In order to have a “mini replica” of September 11 attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s ISI has directed militants, especially of Lashker-e-Taiba, to use “toy planes” to target army posts and VVIPs.

India to create strategic oil reserve
New Delhi, February 3
In an attempt to cushion any adverse impact of fluctuations in the supply of crude oil from the international market, India has decided to create a strategic reserve of crude oil of 15 million tonnes, Petroleum Minister Ram Naik said here today.
