Militants on extortion spree

Jammu, January 5
Militants went on an extortion spree in Rajouri robbing four villagers of at least Rs 55,000 at gunpoint, official sources said here today.

A group of four to five ultras descended on Rajouri district’s Sarno village around 10 pm yesterday and extorted Rs 50,000 from Chuni Lal at gunpoint.

They went to the house of Bhola Ram and forced him to pay Rs 1,500 and took Rs 1,100 from Vinod Kumar, a shopkeeper, and Rs 3,000 from Ramesh Chand.

However, no one was harmed in the incidents, the sources said, adding that additional forces had reached the village. PTI
