17 new ministers likely in J&K

There are indications of at least 17 new ministers joining the J and K Cabinet.

It is understood that five members each will be inducted from the Congress and the PDP while the remaining seven will be from the Panthers Party and Independents.

Mr Sayeed is also understood to have pleaded for the inclusion of state CPM leader Mohammad Yousaf Tarigami into the Cabinet.

Mr Abdul Aziz Zargar and Mr Qazi Mohammad Afzal, who defeated Minister of State for External Affairs Omar Abdullah from Ganderbal, are the like PDP faces in the Cabinet.

The Congress men likely to be inducted are Mr Taj Mohiudin, Mr Madan Lal, Mr Mohammad Shafi Bhat, Mr Ghulam Hassan and Mr Mohammad Shafi Naz, who is a relative of Mr Azad.

Mr Hakim Mohammad Yasin, a former minister in the GM Shah Ministry and Mr Sofi Ghulam Mohammad, a former Hurriyat leader may also find berths in the Council of Ministers.
