Justice Amar Bir Singh Gill goes on leave
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, December 16
Mr Justice Amar Bir Singh Gill of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, involved in the Punjab Public Service Commission recruitment scam, today proceeded on “indefinite” leave.

The High Court authorities, when contacted, refused to comment on the issue. Sources, however, confirmed that the Judge had not specified the leave period.

It may be recalled that Mr Justice Lakshmanan probe panel had earlier examined Mr Justice Gill, and two other judges named in the scam. Prior to their examination, the three-judge panel had questioned witnesses in the case — Jagman Singh, Randhir Singh alias Dheera and former Superintendent of Police (Intelligence) S.S. Mand.

The inquiry against Mr Justice Gill and other judges was initiated on the basis of a report from Punjab and Haryana High Court’s former Chief Justice Mr Arun B. Saharya. He had submitted his report to the then Chief Justice of India, Mr Justice B.N. Kirpal.
