Five infiltrators shot in J&K

The Indian troops today killed five Pakistani infiltrators on the LoC at Pir Badeshwar in Rajouri sector. A Defence Ministry spokesman said the moment the troops spotted some movement on the LoC they opened fire, killing five intruders on the spot. The infiltrators had returned the fire.

Five infiltrators shot in J&K

Jammu, December 16
The Indian troops today killed five Pakistani infiltrators on the LoC at Pir Badeshwar in Rajouri sector. A Defence Ministry spokesman said the moment the troops spotted some movement on the LoC they opened fire, killing five intruders on the spot. The infiltrators had returned the fire.

It is believed that this group of militants had been brought from Samani and Khu Rata militant camps across Laam in Rajouri for pushing them into Jammu sector.

Meanwhile, six civilians were injured when a rocket fired from across the Line of Control by Pakistani troops fell at Shindra village of Poonch district today, official sources said here.

The Pakistani troops fired a rocket which fell and exploded near a bus stop at Shindra village of Surankote tehsil today, the sources said. Six persons, who received splinter injuries, were rushed to Surankot sub-district hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Pakistani troops have also increased firing and shelling in Noushera sector of Rajouri district, the sources said, adding that about 275 mortar shells were fired by Pakistan troops in the area of Bhawani, Makri, Kalsian and Jhanghar in Noushera sector yesterday.

SRINAGAR: Militants shot at and injured a Congress activist, killed a labourer and abducted a forest guard in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley since last night, official sources said on Monday. Congress activist Mohammad Yousuf Mir was shot at by militants last evening in an attack near his house at Narpora village in Kokernag area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the body of a labourer, Abdul Majid, was picked up by the police from Wachinag in Anantnag district on Monday. Majid of Maliknagkund was missing for 10 days from his house and was allegedly killed by suspected militants, who slit his throat.

A gunbattle is on between the Army and an unspecified number of militants holed up in a house in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir in which two Rashtriya Rifles personnel were injured on Monday, official sources said.
