Army to vacate Red Fort
New Delhi, July 24
The Army has agreed in principle to vacate the historic Red Fort in the walled city of the capital in deference to the wishes of the Tourism Ministry. According to official sources, the Army top brass is understood to have taken the decision to vacate the world-famous 17th century monument, built by Moghul emperor Shah Jahan, keeping in view its archaeological importance. 5 killed in Jharkhand
Ranchi, July 24
At least five persons were killed and about 25 injured during the pro-domicile forces-sponsored 12-hour Jharkhand bandh today. However, unofficial sources put the toll at six. State Home Commissioner Shushma Singh said three persons were killed and one was injured when the private security personnel opened fire on violent bandh supporters, who had attacked their camp in Shayamali under the Doranda Police Station here. Two persons were killed in a group clash between the pro and the anti-domicile activists in Dhurwa here. UNI
