Fourth incident in 5 days; SHO transferred
Khanna, April 14
In the fourth robbery incident within five days in the Khanna Sadar police station area, one person was killed and three others were seriously injured in the morning today. The police is, however, yet to assess the value of cash and articles taken away by the robbers.

Girl’s death: ‘police version hard to buy’

Almost two days after the recovery of the remains of the two-year-old girl, who had gone missing ten days ago, the family is finding it hard to believe that she was done to death by wild cats as claimed by the police.

Lodhi Club closed as staff go on strike

DIG marks probe into alleged false case

Mr Rohit Chaudhary, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana, has directed SP city-I, Naunihal Singh to inquire into an alleged implication of a man, his son and daughter-in-law of Jhande village in a case registered at Sadar police station two days ago. The case against the man was registered on the complaint of his second son.

The local unit of Punjab Bank Employees Federation (PBEF) has condemned the state government decision to curtail holidays of bank employees on major festivals like Holi and Baisakhi.

Tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar
Ludhiana, April 14
Glowing tributes were paid to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 111th birth anniversary here today. Several functions were organised by various political and social organisations in memory of the leader. The main function was organised at the local Congress office by the District Congress Committee Ludhiana (urban) under the chairmanship of its president, Mr K K Bawa.

Car-borne youths stab couple
Ludhiana, April 14
A couple travelling by a Tata Sumo was intercepted by some Maruti-borne youths here yesterday and stabbed with knives. According to information, Mr Satish Kumar and his wife Ms Seema Rani, residents of New Panjabi Bagh Colony in Basti Jodhewal area, were going to the house of a relative when the car-borne assailants intercepted them and injured them seriously.
