Falerio sworn in Goa CM

PANAJI, Nov 26 (PTI) — On a day of fast-paced developments, Mr Luizinho Falerio, was tonight sworn in as the Chief Minister of Goa bringing the Congress back to power after the Wilfred D'Souza ministry resigned hours ahead of a trust vote.

Fortyseven-year-old Faleiro, leader of the Congress Legislature Party, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor J F R Jacob as the head of a two-member ministry which includes Mr Dayanand Narvekar, who will be the Deputy Chief Minister.

Mr Narvekar, along with three other MLAs, defected from Mr D'Souza’s Goa Rajiv Congress and joined the Congress.

Earlier, the high-pitched political drama began after midnight when Mr D'Souza handed over the resignation letter of his ministry to the Governor at 1.30 p.m. after his plea against advancing the Legislature session for a trial of strength from December 2 was turned down.
