Youth stabbed to death

Jasbir Singh, the victim A 24-year-old youth was stabbed to death by two unknown persons near the light point of Sectors 38 and 40 at 6.30 pm here today. The deceased has been identified as Jasbir Singh Rana, a resident of Sector 41. The victim was going on his Activa scooter.

22 UT officials under the scanner

At least 22 UT officials, including some posted in the Engineering Department, are under the scanner for their role in the eight-month-old case pertaining to violations in the construction of commercial buildings. The construction was not in accordance with the sanctioned building plans.

At a time when the UT Administration has barred city restaurants from levying the service charge, the UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Café Coffee Day and its franchisee at Elante Mall here to pay Rs 3,000 compensation for levying a service charge of Rs 8.19.

DC Phulia’s tenure saw no big change in Panchkula

Poor police-public ratio has adversely affected the policing in the village-turned-town Zirakpur. It has forced the residents to live in an unsecure atmosphere for the past over a decade. BKU (Rajewal) calls off dharna

The BKU (Rajewal) called off its dharna in Sector 52 here today. Balbir Singh Rajewal said a bigger stir by the farmers would be organised in the next three months. PGI pain clinic offers spinal cord stimulation
A 39-year-old patient approached to Dr Babita Ghai (Additional Professor, Department of Anaesthesia) in pain clinic in April 2013. He had been crushed between two cars while crossing the road in 2005. He suffered extremely bad pelvic fracture and had to undergo replacement of both his hips.

City girl Vasundhara Thiara corners glory on golf turf

Local golfer Vasundhara Thiara brought laurels to the city by winning the IGU Eastern India Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Tournament organised by Tollygunje Club at Kolkata from November 17 to 20.
On day one, Vasundhara shot the second-best score amongst all categories. Her victory came with a 20-foot putt for a birdie on the last hole. This is Vasundhara’s third win at the club.
