Chandigarh Seminar on economy: A seminar on "Indian economy and crisis in agriculture" will be held at the People's Convention Centre in Sector 36 B on the first day of the three-day national council meeting of the All-India Kisan Sabha on November 2. President of the sabha Bhupinder Samber said the three-day meeting would include discussion by eminent experts on agriculture and economy to further the cause of farmers. Shivalik tourism board: The government has constituted the Shivalik (Dhauladhar) Tourism Development Board under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. The board will have the CEO as its member secretary. The 14-member committee of the board will comprise Finance Minister, Tourism Minister, Chief Secretary, Financial Commissioner (Forest and Wild life), Principal Secretary (Finance), Principal Secretary (Investment Promotion), Principal Secretary (Irrigation), Principal Secretary (Tourism), Principal Secretary (PWD), Secretary (Housing & Urban Development) and MD PIDB. Tribute paid: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal paid tribute to Sant Baba Wariyam Singh and Mata Ranjit Kaur at "Gurmat Ruhani Samagam" organised by Sant Baba Lakhbir Singh at Mohali on Friday. The police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized narcotics from them. Gagandeep Singh of Neela Saila Kalan was arrested with 50 gm narcotic powder from a T-point on the Fatehgarh road. Sarabjit Singh of Dansiwal was arrested with 58 gm narcotic powder from Rahimpur Chowk while Sandeep of New Hari Nagar was arrested with 50 gm narcotic powder from near Old Tehsil on the railway road. Separate cases have been registered. Phagwara Amritsar-Gorakhpur Express:
The Northern Railway will introduce a nweekly train between Amritsar and Gorakhpur from November 2. Sources said the Amritsar-Gorakhpur Express would depart from Amritsar on every Sunday at 12.35 pm and reach Gorakhpur at 7.55 am the next day. It would depart from Gorakhpur on every Monday at 10.35 am and reach Amritsar at 6.30 am the next day.
Ropar Pistol, cartridges seized: Two persons were arrested for possessing a country-made pistol and some live cartridges on Thursday evening. Those arrested were Mohan and Nathu Khan of Azad Nagar. |
