Abohar
2 get life term for murder
:
A court in Sriganganagar on Tuesday sentenced Deendayal and Gajanand to life imprisonment for killing Lal Chand and his son Ganga Bishan. The case was registered on June 27, 2012 on the complaint of Ganga's wife Mohini. She had alleged that Deendayal and Gajanand attacked her husband and father-in-law in a field. The family had a land dispute in Bhadwankalan village.

Travel agent held for fraud: The Sriganganagar police on Wednesday nabbed travel agent Vishal Sharma (35) from Delhi for allegedly committing fraud. Investigation reportedly indicated that Vishal had also been operating under the name of Sachin Nanda. His accomplice Abdul Rahim of Bangalore fled. The police said Vishal had allegedly duped several persons of Rs 42 lakh in four separate cases.

One killed in accident:
A person was killed and another seriously injured when their Maruti Swift car collided against a Bolero near Jhalnia village near Fatehabad on late Tuesday night. Karan Singh (24) and Harjinder (27), both residents of Bhuna town, were returning home on their car when the Bolero driven by Vinod Kumar crashed with their. While Karan Singh died on the spot Harjinder was critically injured.

Oath-taking venue changed: The venue for Haryana Chief Minister-designate Manohar Lal Khattar’s oath-taking ceremony has been changed to Shalimar Ground in Sector 5 here. Earlier, the event was scheduled to be held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3.

Mason electrocuted:
A mason, Gurdas Singh of Lakranwali village, was electrocuted to death on Wednesday. He was working at a construction site of a marriage palace when the accident occurred. Singh's family said an 11-KV power line was passing above the site. Gurdas had refused to work till the overhead wire was removed.

3,000 kg chura post seized:
The Special Investigating Team of Sonepat police recovered 3000 kg of chura post from a culvert on the GT road near Nathupur village on Tuesday night. The contraband was kept in 75 gunny bags and its value was estimated around Rs 40 lakh.

Womenfolk will be provided free travelling facility in ordinary buses of Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation within the state on Bhai Dooj on October 25, said Transport and Food & Civil Supplies MinisterG S Bali hereon Wednesday.

CD of pahari songs out: “Meri Jannat” – a CD of pahari songs sung by folk singer from Chopal Birbal Sharma was released by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here on Wednesday. The CM said that government was committed to promoting and preserving the rich cultural and heritage of the state. The CD contains 10 folk songs of the Upper Mahasu area.

MP opens ATM in Theog: The present Union Government is committed to providing banking facilities in remote areas, particularly in villages, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna is a first towards providing banking facilities to poor people. This was stated here today by Member of Parliament Virender Kashyap while inaugurating the ATM service launched by Bank of India (BOI) in the remote and rural area of Sarog under Theog tehsil. BOI branch manager, Sarog, Ajay Kashyap said the initiative would provide 24-hour ATM service to villagers.
