Funskool (India) Ltd launched its flagship store in the region at Trilium Mall here. Notices to Majithia:
A local court on Tuesday issued fresh notices to SAD minister Bikram Majithia for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community by changing a word in a hymn while praising BJP leader Arun Jaitley during campaigning for the Lok Sabha poll. The court was told that the previous notices were not served. The court asked Majithia to submit a reply on the issue raised by advocate Mandeep Kaur. The case will now come up for hearing on December 10.

Courses for SC students: The government has invited applications from SC students for one-year postgraduate diploma in computer application and four-month certificate course in computer operation and application free of cost at various Cal-C centres in the state. Applicant's total family annual income should be up to 3 lakhs.

BJYM disbands 3 dist units: The Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Tuesday disbanded its district units of Mohali, Muktsar and Amritsar (Rural). The morcha removed the presidents and all office-bearers in these organisations. BJYM state president Mohit Gupta said the decision was taken after these units failed to live up to the expectations of the party high command. He said a new organisational structure would be put in place within a month.

Student killed in mishap:
A 22-year-old student of Mata Gujri College was killed in a head-on collision between his motorcycle and a speeding truck at the focal point crossing on the GT road here. His friend was injured seriously. The victim has been identified as Gurvinder Singh of Raipur Arya village while the injured, Harmanpreet Singh of Miyapur village.

Bikers rob elderly woman:
Two youths on a motorcycle snatched Rs 50,000 from an elderly woman near Manav Chowk in Ambala City on Tuesday. Gulshan Rani had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from PNB and was on her way home on a rickshaw along with her daughter. Two youths with their faces covered snatched her purse containing the cash and fled.

100 jhuggis gutted: A massive fire broke out in a slum cluster near Sushant lok-I and reduced around 100 Jhuggis to ashes. No casualties were reported. Police said the incident took place due to a cylinder leak. It took an hour for the fire fighters to douse the fire. “Majority of labourers were away to work and there was hardly anybody and thus there was no casualty. The fire had spread very quickly. More than 10 fire tenders were pressed into service,” Isham Singh Kashyap, fire officer, said.

Rs 3.71 lakh looted
: Two youths robbed Mehtab, a resident of Liwan village, of Rs 3.71 lakh at gunpoint on the GT Road near HSIIDC, Rai, on Tuesday morning. The police have registered a case. Mehtab was going to deposit cash in a bank at Kundli on a motorcycle. When he was near the HSIIDC Complex, two armed youth stopped his motorcycle, looted the cash and escaped on the motorcycle.

Tipper crushes man
: An employee of a plyboard factory in Yamunanagar, Suresh Kumar of Sarsawa town, was crushed to death by a tipper on the National Highway-73 near Dusani village on Monday night. The deceased was on his way back home. When he reached Dusani village, a speeding tipper hit his bicycle. His bicycle got stuck in the tipper’s wheels and he was dragged for a long distance before the vehicle came to a halt. The victim was rushed to the trauma centre, where he was declared brought dead. A case was registered against the tipper driver.

KANGRA
Youth has fatal fall:
A 27-year-old youth, working as a labourer, was killed after he had a fall from the fourth floor of a building at McLeodganj here on Tuesday. He was rushed to the DRPGMC at Tanda where doctors declared him brought dead. The police said victim Sagar Chand, hailed from Bhasoli in Jammu and Kashmir.

Legal literacy camp held:
Parveen Chauhan, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), who is also Chairman of the Kullu Sub-divisional Legal Services Committee, presided over a legal literacy camp organised at Thras village of Rot panchayat in the Banjar valley here on Tuesday. Senior advocate Dharmendra Sharma spoke on the Motor Vehicles Act, Sheetal Sharma the cyber crime and Sumit Thakur on the Domestic Violence Act.

NCP leader dead: Anirudh Sharma, president of the Himachal unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) died here on Monday. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Gandhi Nagar here.

Gulzar calls on CM:
Noted lyricist, poet, writer and filmmaker Gulzar called on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at his residence here on Tuesday and appreciated the steps taken by the state government for the preservation of the environment, including a complete ban on the felling of trees and strict measures adopted by the government for making state polythene free. He also presented some of his books to the Chief Minister.
