Northern Railway rolls out more festival trains

The Northern Railway has announced a few more festival special trains to cope with extra rush of passengers during Durga
Puja, Dasehra and Diwali. The trains will run between Jammu Tawi-Udaipur, Ahmedabad-Katra and Mumbai CST-Jammu

City Bus Service floats tenders
Ludhiana, September 21
The City Bus Service has floated tenders under Net Cost Contract (NCC) Model 15. A pre-bid meeting of officials is scheduled for September 23 at Zone D office. City Bus Service in charge Baljit Singh said the last date for the submission of proposals is October 7, 2014, adding that technical bids would be opened the same day.

No end to illegal buildings
Ludhiana, September 21
The “vested interests” of some politicians and officials of the building branch are allegedly preventing Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal and Additional Commissioner Rishipal Singh from gathering details of illegal buildings mushrooming across the city.

Exchanging banter at leisure
Kisan Mela at the Punjab Agriculture University is the platform where farmers come to get know about new seeds and farm techniques. But it also gives farmers some time to leisure, sit and relax. 82K children get polio drops on Day 1

Junk food sale continues around schools

There seems to be a little coordination between health departments and the education sector when it comes to following the government’s direction to restrict sale of junk food in and near the educational institutes.
The Director General School Education (DGSE), GK Singh, had directed the Education Department to restrict the sale of junk food six months back.
