ING Life Insurance penalised
Chandigarh, September 2 Mahesh Inderpal Singh Ahluwalia alleged that in February 2013, an agent of the insurance company approached him for taking a life insurance policy by paying one-time premium of Rs 2.50 lakh. He alleged that despite paying the amount, the insurance company failed to send the policy and the receipt. Ahluwalia said he waited for several months to receive the policy and finally in December 2013, he requested the insurance company to deliver the original policy. Ahluwalia alleged that instead of issuing the policy, the insurance company ‘forced’ him to submit an indemnity bond to obtain the duplicate policy. Meanwhile, denying deficiency in services, ING Life Insurance Company Limited said, “The policy along with the terms and conditions was sent to Ahluwalia.” The company claimed that, “Ahluwalia did not raise any objection or made any complaints during the free-look period.” The forum directed ING Life Insurance Company Limited to refund Rs 2.50 lakh with 9 per cent interest from February 2013 till the realisation besides Rs 10,000 as the cost of litigation. |
