Abohar
Man booked for rape:
The police have arrested Suresh Kumar Kali of Sirsa for sexually exploiting a minor of Gaddandob village in Abohar. The girl alleged that she was taken away by the accused under the pretext of marriage but was raped during a three-day detention.

Two run over by train: Two persons were run over by a train on the Abohar-Hindumalkot stretch on Monday. Some people told the police that the victims, Vijaypal (35) and Prabhdayal (30), had earphones in their ears when the Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Sriganganagar trainsounded a warning whistle. The incident happened 100 m from the Kotha railway station.

Patiala
4 acquitted in blast case:
The court of the Additional Sessions Judge, Patiala, on Monday acquitted four persons in the 2010 Arya Samaj bomb blast case. Seven persons were injured in the low-intensity blast on April 10, 2010, near Satyanarayana Temple here. The court acquitted the accused for lack of evidence. It said the police had failed to prove their involvement in the crime. The Khanna police had arrested Harminder Singh, said to be a Babbar Khalsa activist, Jaswinder Singh of Rajpura, Manjinder Singh of Hussainpur and Gurjant Singhof Zirakpur. They were booked under various Sections of the Explosives Act.

Mohali YPS team wins quiz: A three-day inter-public school knowledge conclave began with a quiz at Punjab Public School, Nabha, on Sunday. The YPS, Mohali, team won the quiz. Other teams that participated in the quiz were: Lawrence School, Sanawar; YPS, Patiala; The Daly College, Indore; Welham Girls, Dehradun; and PPS, Nabha.

1 killed in mishap
: Jalandhar resident Ranjit Singh was killed while his wife Harpreet Kaur (30) and two daughters Girisha (7) and Tanika (4) sustained serious injuries when the Accent car (PB-08-2184) by which they were going to Ludhiana rammed into a sand-loaded tractor trailer near Phillaur on Sunday evening.

1kg charas seized in Chamba :The police seized 1-kg charas from a pedestrian near Mehla in the district last night, Superintendent of Police, Chamba, DK Chaudhary said here today.
The SP said a police party which was on patrol near Mehla intercepted the pedestrian and on checking his bag, they recovered 1-kg charas from him. A case had been registered.
