Abohar
1 dies, 2 hurt in mishap:
Praveen Kumar (31), a driver, was killed and two others injured when the vehicle he was driving overturned on the Malout road. The injured are Gurdeep Singh and his brother Raju. They have been admitted to Nehru Memorial Civil Hospital in Abohar.

Phagwara
Building, shop collapse:
A three-storey building of NRI Harjinder Paul and the adjoining hairdresser’s shop run by Sunny collapsed due to heavy rains followed by a thunderstorm in Phagwara on Monday. However, no casualty was reported as no one was in the building during the incident.

Woman commits suicide:A woman, Manjit Kaur (33), allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train near the Phagwara railway station on Monday night. She had gone to a gurdwara to pay obeisance, but did not return home. Manjit's brother Vikramjit alleged that his sister was being tortured by her in-laws, forcing her to take the extreme step.

Circular regarding contractual staff:
The Haryana Government has asked all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, commissioners of all divisions, deputy commissioners and registrars of the universities in the state to submit information regarding contractual employees of Group 'B', 'C' and 'D' category, who have been regularised under the recent regularisation policy. In a circular issued by the office of Chief Secretary, they have been asked to send the information by July 30.

Two sent to judicial custody for suicide bid:
Two persons, who had climbed up a mobile phone tower on Sunday evening in an inebriated condition at Durala village, were sent  to judicial custody. They were arrested for alleged suicide bid.

Rohtak
Anti-toll activists: protest, arrested Activists of the Meham Chaubisi Toll-Hatao Sangharsh Samiti protested against the toll tax regime in the state on Tuesday. They assembled at the Chhotu Ram Chowk and started to march towards the CM’s house. They were stopped on the way by the police, who asked them to go back. The protesters insisted on moving ahead, following which they were arrested.

Congress a sinking ship, says party leader:Senior Congress leader Virender Singh said on Tuesday that under the leadership of the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the party was not going to reach double figures in the Assembly poll. He told the media at Gohana that the Congress was a sinking ship and senior leaders had no other options, but to leave the party.
