Kicking it nice and easy…
She is much taller than she looks on screen, an inch or two contributed by those pointed heels. In her black and white dress, loosely yet neatly left-open hair and armed with a newcomer's confident smile, Kriti Sanon is the new face in the Bollywood arena. So, naturally we haven't heard much about her (we clearly mean fresh rumours) and at Tissot, Elante where she launches Quickster Football variant, there is a chance to learn something more, especially when she gained some more height with the success of her debut film Heropanti.
Flaunting her Quicskter Football Tissot watch, gifted by Anu Saboo, owner Ethos, the actress shows her excitement. "With everyone soaked in the FIFA fever, I guess this is just the right time to flaunt this watch, it is sporty and classic and I always wanted to buy one," Kriti says in a perfectly measured style. Apart from the FIFA fever, this pretty actress is, we are sure, infected with the success fever as well. Her film opposite Tiger Shroff has done pretty well, something Kriti can't help raving about. "This is my first film and you can't believe I am so happy that it has done well." Our obvious mention of Tiger Shroff is taken pretty well. "It was wonderful working with him. He is a fabulous dancer. One never knows when he would break into some groovy dance move," she smiles exposing her pearlies. Now that things have fallen in place, it is time for Kriti to move forward, carefully though. But she has to share something first, "When the promos first came out, people started recognising me. It was a great feeling." Well, now she doesn't have to worry about recognition that she is definitely getting it. "I am doing a Telugu film now. It is an ambitious film and I am working opposite Nagarjuna's son. I start shooting for it by next month. It is going to be a fun film, something I look forward to again," says the actress holding her poise and her Tissot watch nicely. Kriti is also doing another film with Akshay Kumar. "It's called Singh Is Bling but I wouldn't want to talk much about it." The queries related to this are put to rest as we move on to some other, like secret behind this beauty! "What one eats is a reflection of the kind of a person one is. I eat well and drink lots of water," shares the actress who enjoyed binging on butter chicken a day before. "Ah! I was in Delhi where I spent some nice time with my mother and ate well." Kriti was a student of engineering and started doing commercials in her second year. "I was comfortable in front of the camera. I just had to work a little more and it was done."

A good catch!
Before they ask him anything--his latest song or where he would be performing next, or just about anything else—he is inevitably asked, "You have eyes like Hrithik Roshan. Are you wearing lenses?" And each time singer-actor Hardy Sandhu would poke a finger to his eyes to show them that they are for real. As real as his thoughtful songs are, as real has his acting debut!
The mushy-looking handsome singer, who by the way is an ex-Ranji Trophy player, makes his acting debut with the Punjabi film Yaaran Da Katchup that releases on July 18. The trailer of the film is already out and each day brings Hardy close to another reality- what will happen? Currently working on his two up-coming singles, Hardy pulls out moments to 'katchup' with his experiences of shooting, first shot, singing, dancing, romancing (on screen) and loaded fun…. So far so good
It has been a joyride shooting for the film. One, I had a chance to meet so many new people and two I discovered another side to myself which is comfortable with acting. We act in all our songs but in the track Soch, I had a chance to explore this side better. It gave me confidence and when the makers of the film narrated me the role, I took it up! Dil, dosti etc
The film is based on an interesting story of three friends, how they catch up after years and the incidents that follow. I remember, while shooting the scenes where the rest of two friends catch up, I would often miss my college friends. At the end of the shoot, I would call them and make extensive plans of catching up soon. Friends are an important part of my life. They are my best critics, my best fans. Guri Dhaliwal, singer Ammy Virk and the team of Virsa Arts are some of the people whom I can lay my bets on. First cut
My first take for the film was shot in Chandigarh where I am with two other actors. I was slightly nervous. But after a while, I got into the groove. I told myself that I had done this before in my videos, only this time the canvas was big. My entire crew of Yaaran Da Katchup was pretty supportive. Films & more
I am a singer first. Soon, after the release of my film; I would start shooting for my next two videos. The same team of Soch will be shooting these songs as well. I am excited about the two tracks. I want to concentrate on singing. I have read a couple of scripts, but I want to pick and choose the subject. Well, Punjabi cinema is going through its up phase but we still have lot of good directors and subjects that need to be explored. I would want to be a part of this kind of cinema. Must watch
Punjab 1984 is the recent film that I watched, and I must say, I haven't seen such a sensitively done film in a long time. Everyone in the team has done a great job. Anurag Singh is an amazing director. I would love to work with him. Punjabi cinema is full of good scripts, we only need to experiment and break the usual barriers. I am open to any kind of cinema that gives me a chance to explore myself as an actor as well. It’s news
I have been offered a Hindi film. Couple of things need to be settled before I can share the big news on it.

Life cycle
In a journey that spanned over 25 days and 1400 km which they covered on their humble bicycles, a lot was explored about nature, culture, people and most importantly self.
That they can endure harsh weather conditions, survive in sub-zero temperatures, spend nights in areas without any habitation and yet feel motivated to move ahead the next day was all that Jaspal Singh, assistant professor, GCG-11, and Manjinder Singh Randhawa, a businessman, discovered about themselves during their expedition. The journey began and ended at Chandigarh via Srinagar, Leh, Khardung La pass and Manali. "Each day was a challenge. If on one day, there was a snow storm, on some other a bicycle would develop a hitch or we would run out of drinking water," says Jaspal. Wherever they went, they were welcomed with surprised reactions from locals and fellow travelers, "Indians travel only by SUVs or by air to Ladakh. You don't see them riding bicycles on rocky terrains." A foreign tourist, who was covering the landscape on a bicycle for the seventh time, motivated them to carry on with their journey. "It was good to know from him that we were the first riders he came across in the last seven years." There were times, when they felt scared of the uninhabited expanse of the region. "There was a stretch of 250 km when we didn't come across a single human being," Manjinder recounts. Yet, they don't want their expedition to be referred to as an adventure sport, "In that case, you have a back-up team. There are people who come to your rescue when you face extreme conditions. But we had no such privileges. We were on our own. It was an adventure for sure, but not the type we keep on reading about in newspapers." Their day used to begin at 5 in the morning and by 3 in the afternoon, they would wrap up. "It was difficult to ride bicycles post afternoon because of the fading light and also roads became flooded as glaciers melted due to heat." They enjoyed the Leh part of the journey the most for the colourful culture, simple living style of the locals and food, of course. Jaspal adds, "That's the way to live amidst nature. They value and love it and it's a lesson we brought back home. If you want to learn a thing or two about environment conservation, visit Leh." Are the aspiring Leh tourists listening?

Cool confidence
Designers are aplenty today, but the younger generation is quite aware of whom and what to choose' thanks to the wide exposure through the media. Abhijot Singh, a student of animation, likes to be his own designer. Your sense of style… Style is a combo of personality and confidence. I especially admire those who can carry off street-wear with the same smartness as the brands. Latest addition to your treasure of clothing or accessories… Shoes from Jack and Jones in purple colour. Brand crazy or street pick-up Both; suitability is the key factor. Who is your style icon? Ranbir Kapoor. Who do you think is the worst-dressed celebrity Can't think of anybody! Which look do you prefer - sporty, chic or glamorous Sporty. One fashion trend that goes beyond your comprehension I am a great one for experimentation and like to try out every fashion. Your take on accessories I am not much of an accessory person. If given a choice, you would like to be dressed by which designer? I would like to be my own designer What gives you a high? My confidence is at its peak when I step out of the gym and of course, glances of admiration from girls are always a booster. (As told to Poonam Bindra) |
