Barnala
Two held for theft: The police have arrested two thieves and recovered a sum of Rs 4.50 lakh, a motorcycle and two scooters from them. Raj Kumar and Vishal Sharma of Ludhiana confessed to have committed thefts in Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Khanna, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Jagraon, Moga and Ludhiana districts.

Cabinet to meet on July 8: The state cabinet will meet on July 8. Disclosing this on Friday, a spokesperson of General Administration Department said all departments have been asked to submit a memorandum regarding issues to be discussed at the meeting.
Development plan approved:
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday approved a plan for seeking Rs 700 crore for development projects from NABARD under RIDF XX for the year 2014-15. The development work would be undertaken with RIDF loans amounting to Rs 687 crore.

Postmaster booked: The Amloh police have booked the Postmaster of Bharpurgarh village near Amloh for embezzling Rs 23,376 from the saving accounts of various depositors. Lakhvir Singh had allegedly made bogus entries in account holders' passbooks and no entries were made in the official records.
Phagwara
3 thefts reported:
Three burglaries were reported in Phagwara sub-division on Thursday night. The thieves stole Rs 10,000, some jewellery and a laptop from Iqbal Singh's house in nearby Gandhwan village. In another incident, 30 mobile phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen from a shop on Old Post Office Road. In the third incident, valuable goods were stolen from a shop in the same locality. Two killed in mishap :
Two persons were killed and as many were injured when their car was hit by a truck in Kiratpur Sahib on Friday. The truck was travelling on the wrong side. The deceased have been identified as Rajnish (42) and Udayvir Singh (30). The injured, Mukul Singh and Prem Pal Singh, were admitted to Ropar Civil Hospital.
