Kidnapped child rescued from Hardwar

Just to take revenge, a girl kidnaps her cousin's son. Sounds like a Bollywood movie's plot. Fed up with her brother's interference in her married life, the accused, Priya, kidnapped his six-month-old son Ishan from Punjab Mata Nagar on May 16.

Students without books for 2 months

The new academic session began at government schools two months ago, but students have not received books to date. It is learnt that English medium books have not been supplied to the PSEB book depot.

Tempers run high as liquor vend opens in residential area

Although the Reserve Bank of India’s move to relax import norms led to a fall in gold prices, local jewellers are not too upbeat about it. Office-bearers of the Ludhiana Jewellers’ Association said major policy changes were required to revive the industry. They maintained the fall in prices would not have much impact on the domestic gold market.

PCTE, Hyatt Regency to hold cookery classes
Ludhiana, May 24
PCTE–Institute of Hotel Management has joined hands with Hyatt Regency, Ludhiana, to deliver cooking classes to the residents. Classes for Hors d Oeuvre, Italian, South-East Asian, French classical cooking and much in demand bakery products will be conducted. Joint certificate will be issued by PCTE and Hyatt Regency, Ludhiana, after the completion of the course. For the first time, the city will witness an academic organisation gearing up for various activities in this summer vacations.

Over 1,000 nurses attend workshop on critical care

A workshop was organised by the Department of Critical Care and the Department of Nursing at SPS Apollo Hospital. As many as 1,000 nurses from hospitals, nursing colleges and nursing homes attended the workshop aimed at sensitising and updating nursing professionals with best practices in critical care.

Students awarded
Ludhiana: A prize distribution function was organised for the meritorious students of Class X and XII at Sat Paul Mittal School. A scholarship of Rs 10,000 was awarded to the students who secured 89.6 per cent and above marks and prize money of Rs 5,000 was given to the students who secured between 84.6 per cent and 89.5 per cent marks. Also, prize money of Rs 5,000 was awarded to the students securing 100 per cent marks in various subjects. Addressing the audience, Bhupinder Gogia, principal, applauded the efforts of the students. Meanwhile, the students who had excelled in various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities for the session 2013-2014 were also awarded.

Homoeopathy dispensary opens
Desh Bhagat Hospital, Saunti village, has come up with a homoeopathy dispensary. Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, Dr Zora Singh inaugurated the homeopathy service. He also inaugurated a homoeopathic medical camp which was organised in the hospital. People can now take benefit of the dispensary from 9 am to 3 pm daily except Sundays. Director, University Faculty of Ayurveda and Research, Dr Kulbhushan said during the camp, more than 200 patients were examined by a panel of well experienced doctors.
