International Family Day:
Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School celebrated International Family Day on its campus today. The students presented a cultural programme highlighting the significance of International Family Day. Principal Neetu Sharma addressed the students and emphasised on the importance of family as the basic unit of learning and its indelible influence on a child’s personality.

Free treatment for rape victims
: The state government on Thursday issued instructions to all hospitals, public or private, to provide free medical treatment to all acid attack and rape victims. An official spokesman said these instructions had been issued after the orders of the Supreme Court. The court had focused on adopting measures for prompt treatment for the victims. He said it was now mandatory for all hospitals to provide free treatment to the victims.

Sukhmani Group gets PTU affiliation:
The Sri Sukhmani Group of Institutions added another feather to its cap with its hospitality and management wing getting affiliation for the B.Com (professional) course from Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar .The PTU has sanctioned 60 seats for B.Com.(professional) course.

Five injured in mishap:
Five people got injured when their Swift car overturned near Bhularai Chowk on Mehtan-Chandigarh bypass on Wednesday night. The mishap occurred as the driver lost control of the vehicle. The injured were admitted to a local civil hospital.

Cop among 3 hurt in clash: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh and two women, Upasana Bedi and Harbhaghan Kaur, were injured in a clash on Thursday. The ASI was trying to pacify the opposing groups in a dispute over a property. The injured were admitted to a local civil hospital. A case has been registered.

Arun Kanwal is new Dist taxation Bar chief: Ludhiana: Arun Kanwal has been elected president of the District Taxation Bar Association. Kanwal managed to get 214 votes while the other contender, YP Sikka, got 140 votes. Suket Garg has been elected secretary of the association while Naresh Gupta has become joint secretary. Jasminder Singh was elected vice-president. The association has 359 voters and today 355 members came to cast their vote. Jatinder Khurana, taxation lawyer, congratulated the new team. Kanwal after assuming the charge promised to work for the welfare of the lawyers.
