Abohar

1 killed, 9 injured in mishap: Santosh Rani Sharma (50) was killed and nine others, including two women, were injured as two auto rickshaws and a car collided near Sadhuwali Military Station on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road on Monday. Two families from Rajasthan were on their way to Waryamkhera village to attend a condolence meeting. The injured have been admitted to Sriganganagar Civil Hospital.

Bikers’ gang strike: Undeterred by the police's flag here on Sunday, a bikers’ gang on Monday snatched a bag, containing gold ornaments, from an employee of the Oriental Bank of Commerce. The victim, Gomati Devi, was on her way to home in a rickshaw when assailants struck.

SBI staff’s purse stolen: Two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths snatched the purse of a woman employee of the State Bank of India near Gohalwar village on Saturday. The head cashier, Inderjit Kaur, was waiting for a bus when her purse was snatched. It carried Rs 10,000 in cash, keys to her personal locker, and some documents.

World Malaria Day celebrated: World Malaria Day was celebrated by the Department of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, PGIMER, at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-38. The theme for 2014 is 'Invest in the Future. Defeat Malaria'. The first international 'ZooPa' workshop on 'Zoonotic water-borne/food-borne parasites' entered its final day on Friday at the PGIMER. During the final day of the workshop, organised by the Department of Parasitology, PGIMER, the results of the risk-ranking exercise conducted on the second day were presented.

CME held on haemovigilance: The Departments of Transfusion Medicine of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, and PGIMER organised a CME on haemovigilance in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance Centre, PGIMER, on Saturday at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh.
