Cop found dead: Head Constable Sukhvir Singh was found lying dead on a road in Shalimar Nagar on Wednesday. He had gone to his house to collect some grocery items, but did not return. Later, he was found dead on the road with his nose bleeding. The body was handed over to his kin after conducting the postmortem. A case has been registered.

2 killed in mishaps: Two people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were killed in two mishaps. ASI Lakhwinder Singh posted at Begowal in Kapurthala died when an unknown vehicle hit his motorcycle near Ibrahimpur village in Dasuya. A case has been registered. In another mishap, Ajay Mehmi of Phuglana village, died when his motorbike was hit by a car. Car driver Madan Lal of Shamchurasi has been booked.

Standing wheat crop gutted: Standing wheat crop on about 17 acres was gutted in a fire at Jhaner village near Sandaur in Malerkotla on Thursday. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. Karam Singh, Station Fire Officer of Municipal Fire Brigade, Malerkotla, said the entire crop of farmer Roop Singh was destroyed.
