Election officials check electronic voting machines at Sector 14 in Panchkula on Wednesday As Panchkula goes to polls tomorrow, voters are all set to choose their MP from the Ambala constituency. Of the total 375 polling booths in the district, 180 have been set up in Panchkula and 195 in Kalka. Polling will start at 7 am and will end at 6 pm. A total of 3, 50,258 voters from Panchkula and Kalka legislative constituencies would cast their vote.

Voter awareness
Chandigarh: The NSS unit of Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, organised a rally to make people aware of the importance of casting vote. School principal Amita Khorana flagged off the rally. She said the rally would serve the dual purpose of creating awareness about the value of vote among parents through school students as well as making children responsible citizens of tomorrow. Carrying placards with slogans such as "My Vote, My Right", "Your vote counts" and "Let's vote", the NSS volunteers covered the entire Sector 22.

Key accused Rode held, sent to police remand till tomorrow
Mohali, April 9
Policemen bring Ranjit Singh Rode, key accused in the shootout case, at the District Courts in Mohali The Mohali Police today arrested Ranjit Singh Rode, the key accused in the case of bloody group clash that took place at Mauli Baidwan village on July 5 immediately after the panchayat and Zila Parishad elections. With the arrest, about eight accused in the case are now in police custody while four are at large.
After arresting Rode, the police produced him before a local court, which sent him to police remand till April 11.

7-year jail for sexual assault on minor

LWCC pip GMSSS-44 by 96 runs, enter final

Hosts Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, by 96 runs, to reach the final of Corruption-Free India Cup, being played at the Divya Public School, Sector 44, Chandigarh. After electing to bat first, the LWCC side posted 155 runs in the allotted slot of 20 overs.
Abhishek Bhatheja (44 runs off 31 balls) and Jaspal Singh (48 off 27 balls) scored major share for the winning team.

MIA to hold cricket meet

The Mohali Industries association will organize 1st T-20 Corporate Cricket Tournament from April 19, at the cricket grounds of Yadvindra Public school Mohali. Employees working in corporate offices are eligible to play in the tournament.
The tournament will be played on league-cum-knockout basis and the interested teams can ensure their entries with the organisers before April 14.
