Annoyed with the slack approach of officials, MC Commissioner Shruti Singh stated that the violation of the High Court's orders would not be tolerated. Singh asked the Assistant Town Planner (Zone A) to make assessment of 16 illegal buildings which were challaned in February and March.

Transformer fire triggers panic in Sarabha Nagar
Ludhiana, April 2
Panic gripped residents in Sarabha Nagar as a transformer installed on Malhar Road caught fire early
this morning. Huge flames and dense smoke was seen coming out of the transformer as well as from the oil that spilled on the ground.
Several residents rushed out as power supply was disrupted as well. Naresh Mehra, a resident, said a major tragedy was averted as the transformer caught fire early in the morning when there were no pedestrians or vehicles on the otherwise busy road.
