Dasuya
11 hurt in road accident: As many as 11 passengers were hurt when a bus collided with a tractor-trailer on Dasuya Talwara road on Tuesday. The bus en-route to Talwara collided with the trailer loaded with sugarcane. The passengers sustained minor injuries and were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Dasuya. A case has been registered against the tractor driver.

Unpaid docs protest: The doctors and employees of the government civil hospital on Tuesday staged a protest dharna against the state government for not disbursing their salaries for the last three months. Dr Karamjit Singh, president of the Action Committee, and Dr Manvir Singh, PCSC Union chief, said if their salaries weren’t released by April 7, they would intensify the stir. Dr Karamjit Singh said emergency services would not be hit during their protest.

New liquor vend sparks protest: Hundreds of residents of Ram Dass Nagar, ward number 13, led by MLA Kuljeet Singh Nagra, protested against the opening of a liquor vend in their locality. Nagra said as per the directions of the Supreme Court no liquor vend could be set up in a residential area. Later, a delegation submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Arun Sekhri in this regard and demanded the vend be closed.

Phagwara
Two killed in mishaps: Satnampura resident Shiv Kumar was run over by a train near Gobindpura railway crossing on Monday. A case has been registered and the body sent to Phagwara Civil Hospital for a postmortem. In another mishap, an unidentified middle-aged man’s body was found on the railway track near Goraya. The Government Railway Police said the victim was run over by a train.

Woman robbed: Two unidentified men snatched a gold chain from a teacher, Manpreet Kaur, on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road on Tuesday. When she raised an alarm, people in the area nabbed one of the snatchers, while the other fled the spot. A case has been registered.
