Illegal arms' dealer held:
Puran Singh was nabbed for allegedly manufacturing illegal weapons at his house in Rampur Neola village on Monday. The police seized two fire arms from him. He had been arrested earlier too under the Excise Act. The police said Puran belonged to Bishanpura village of Jaitsar sub-tehsil.

Hoshiarpur
2 killed, 1 hurt in mishaps:
Two people were killed while another was injured in two road accidents in the district. The first incident occurred on Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road in which Amith Kumar of Nasrala was killed while his friend Sandeep was seriously injured. Their bike had collided head-on with a truck. In the other incident, Captain Jai Singh died near Garhdiwala when he was hit by a speeding car. Cases have been registered in both the cases.

Milk vendor kills self:
A milk vendor identified as Sukhdev Singh (40) reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in nearby Khangurra village on Sunday. The police said he was facing a financial crisis. A case has been registered and the body sent to the local civil hospital for a postmortem examination.

Cable theft disrupts BSNL lines in Sectors 27, 28:
Two 1200 pair and one 800 pair cables have been stolen from the BSNL duct manhole, opposite PVR Centra Mall, in Industrial Area Phase I. Due to the theft, BSNL services in Sector 27-28 have been affected. However, the restoration work has started. An FIR is still to be lodged with the police. Inconvenience caused is regretted, said JS Sahota, GM, Telecom, BSNL Chandigarh.

Downpour causes dip in temp:
Rain showers lashing the state capital caused a dip in the temperature by almost five degrees. The month has received 72 millimetre of rain till now. Meteorological Department Director Anand Sharma said the rain showers were being caused due to the higher frequency of western disturbances. “It is normal to receive rain showers in March leading to a slight dip in the temperature,” he added.
